About
As an Alabama Gulf Coast native, Captain Troy Price has fished the coastal waters since early childhood. Growing up in Fairhope, Al., Troy has had a fascination and appreciation for the fish and wildlife around his local waters, and has acquired a lifetime of experience and knowledge fishing the waters of Mobile Bay, Fort Morgan, Orange Beach, and the Florida panhandle. His passion for fishing would eventually evolve into becoming a guide, and specifically focusing on his favorite fish, the Tarpon.
Troy is the only guide in Alabama who fishes exclusively for Tarpon during this great fishes annual migration into the northern Gulf of Mexico, which begins in June, and runs through August. He participates in tagging and research efforts, and promotes conservation and proper catch and release tactics at all times.
His greatest joy in fishing is guiding a client, especially a father and son (or daughter), to their first Tarpon, which is a truly special and unforgettable experience. When you fish with Troy, you will be greeted with a warm smile, professional attitude, and relentless desire to successfully put you on the fish.
When Tarpon season is not in, Troy also specializes in sight fishing for Blackfish (aka Tripletail) in and around the waters of Mobile Bay. He spends the fall and winter months in his technical poling skiff, sight fishing the shallow marshes and Bays for Redfish, on fly and conventional tackle, and fishes in the Spring months for Speckled Trout, Redfish, Sheepshead, and Flounder.
During many inshore trips, you will depart from Troy’s residence and private dock on beautiful Weeks Bay. Troy also has an excellent network of professional guides, and can accommodate group trips and shore lunches on the pier.
He looks forward to meeting and fishing with you soon. If fishing is not your priority, he also offers sunset and sight seeing cruises to all the local favorite beaches and destinations.
Come hang out with your personal captain and experience the laid back lifestyle of the Alabama Gulf Coast.
Fly Fishing
There are many species that can be targeted along the Gulf Coast with the fly rod. The most popular species is the Redfish, which can be targeted from the slot size fish (16-26 inches), all the way to giant Bull reds, which sometimes top 35 lbs. in size. This fishing is typically done in shallow water, sight fishing in the technical poling skiff, but can also be done in open waters of the Gulf or Bays in the larger Bay boat. Other species targeted are Tripletail, Red Snapper, Speckled Trout, Sheepshead, Spanish Mackerel, Jack Crevalle, and more. Contact us to set up the fly fishing expedition of your choice.
